Fitting like a Glove: The Importance of Alterations

Being 5’2″ has always presented me an extra challenge when shopping for clothes. For decades, I tried only buying things that fit perfectly off the rack, but it was uphill battle, resulting in an accumulation of pieces that almost fit right. I didn’t feel great or confident wearing these “almost-fitting” items, and often times they were only worn once or twice before ending up in the back of my closet, forgotten forever. Obviously, this is not very cost-efficient, so I started getting these garments altered in an effort to get the most out of my purchases. When I got them back from my tailor, wow, the difference was incredible! I felt like a million bucks because now these clothes were custom fitted for me and me alone, not a generic size chart.

Visiting my tailor is now a regular occurrence. I’m all about clothes that make you feel your best, so to me, the added cost of alterations to achieve a flattering and flawlessly fit justifies the extra expense. This applies to everyone, by the way, not just petite ladies like myself. 🙂

    Location: Los Angeles

Attend my first fashion blogging conference — check!

Almost two weeks ago, I went to the 2014 Simply Stylist Fashion & Beauty Conference at The Grove in Los Angeles. I won’t lie, I was crazy nervous. I had no idea what expect, I didn’t know what to wear, and I was afraid that because I was going alone, I’d be the outcast coming from another city. No matter how much reassurance I got from friends, I couldn’t shake my fears, but I mustered up my courage, donned my heels and walked into what quickly became one of the most memorable days I’ve ever had.

Greetings! I’m back from my extended LA weekend getaway and finally am catching up on everything! I spent most of my mini-vacation hanging out with friends and eating non-stop, but the catalyst that prompted my trip was to attend the 2014 Simply Stylist Fashion & Beauty Conference. I’ll be recapping the event in a post next week, but for now, onto one of my LA outfits!

    Tulle Time

When I was five years old, I loved pink and wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up. Well, those pink-loving days are long gone, and my clumsy feet nixed any chance I had at being a ballerina, but I can still rock a tulle skirt!
