    Making inexpensive things look luxe

I haven’t mentioned it to you lovely readers yet, but I’ve been actually been on a self-imposed shopping ban for most of November in preparation for holiday gift shopping. It’s been challenging setting aside my shopaholic tendencies, but it’s also given me the opportunity to shop from my own closet. To my surprise and delight, I’ve been finding all sorts of gems that had gotten tucked away from view!

Being on a budget (or in this case, having no budget!), has actually been pretty fun. I’ve been exploring ways to style inexpensive things in my closet and making them look luxe, and one of the easiest ways to do this is to Read more

    Rent the Runway: Holiday Picks

How many times have you bought a dress for a special occasion or party and only wore it that one time? It can be a shopper’s dilemma, but Rent the Runway has the solution. You can spend the same amount and rent a dress that will make you the star of the room, and not have to worry about it taking up closet space after the party is over. Plus, how exciting would it be to wear a dress from notable designers such as Hervé Léger, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Prabal Gurung, Issa, and Vera Wang? This budget fashionista is all OVER the idea.

In addition to offering a plethora of dresses, Rent the Runway also offers jewelry and handbag rentals, as well. (Pssst, you can even rent some vintage Chanel jewelry, I kid you not!)

Though I have not tried this service yet, I’m very anxious to. After perusing their site — for hours, I must admit — I narrowed my favorites down to these top 12 holiday picks.

    Leopard and Leather

Finally, the unseasonably warm weather here in SF seems to be giving way to more typical November temperatures!

To celebrate the turning of the seasons, my oxblood leather jacket is reemerging along side a cozy scarf. Paired with a short-sleeved sweater, I found this to be the perfect outfit to wear while exploring Union Square. Read more

I was never one for snakeskin anything, and yet a month ago, I spotted this pair of 7 For All Mankind snakeskin jeans at a Loehmann’s sample sale and had to have them. (The price didn’t hurt either — $20, what a steal!) Well, I got cold feet after buying it, though, and I started second guessing myself with an inner dialogue that went something like: “Red pants? Red snakeskin pants? Really, now, what were you thinking?!”

After some reflection, I realized I needed to get out of my comfort zone, and these jeans were a way of just doing that.

    Comfortably Chic

Happy Veterans Day! Hope everyone has today off and is enjoying the holiday!

I had some good friends visit over the weekend, and we spent most of our time stuffing our faces with delicious meals. In times like this, it’s important to pick the right pieces from your wardrobe that will allow for maximum food consumption, because who says you can’t have your cake and eat it, too?

A little black jumpsuit with a pop of red

One might think it’s too early to think about holiday outfit planning, but not this girl. I’m a firm believer that the early bird gets the worm, so my mind was already kicking into high-gear last month, keeping an eye out for things that caught my attention. I saw quite a few pretty dresses, but I really wanted to try a style I hadn’t worn before, so I started looking at jumpsuits.
