Stylish Commuter Bags / Let’s Party!

Working in the San Francisco tech scene for over 7 years, I’ve seen my fair share of male colleagues carrying their custom-colored Timbuk2 messenger bags and backpacks. It’s clear why they love them: not only are the bags masculine and good-looking, but they are completely functional for a city dweller and commuter’s lifestyle.

Meanwhile, all my female colleagues and I are either carrying a giant, floppy tote bag with zero laptop protection or a combination of a handbag paired with a boring, ill-fitting backpack with too thick of straps. (In case you were wondering, I was part of the latter half.) Neither of these options are ideal, obviously, which begged the question: where can a girl go to get a stylish and practical commuter bag??

Enter in the new FEMME by Timbuk2 collection! When I first saw the complete line — which includes fanny packs (who knew fanny packs could actually be stylish?), messenger bags, backpacks and tote bags — I knew I had to have one immediately. And as an added bonus: Any of them would be perfect for a day at Disneyland! 😀

The attention to detail is also clearly evident… pockets are everywhere! My favorite part of all the bags: they each have a fur-lined pocket on the outside that will either fit your phone or a pair of sunglasses. (I am not ashamed to say that I love sticking my hand inside said pocket just because it is that soft — LOL.)

Because of the relaxed fit of the jeans, I opted for wearing a tailored white poplin shirt and nude pumps to finish the look. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t in love with this denim trend on me and will continue stick to my trusty skinny or flared jeans, but I’m still glad I tried it!

I took in about an inch on both sides, so if you are about my size (32A and about 100 lbs) you will probably have to get it altered, as well.

The boyfriend jeans look great on you! I like how they are relaxed, yet aren’t super baggy. But I agree, I will always default to skinny jeans, no matter what the trend!
