When I was shopping and getting ready for Mexico, I was really inspired to insert more color into my wardrobe. I knew from photos that Tulum was very bohemian, so as a nod to the style, I decided to play around and also wear things I wouldn’t normally wear on a daily basis in San Francisco… like a gold leaf headband. I hadn’t worn a headband since elementary school (when I was channeling Kimberly’s hair vibes from Power Rangers, lol!) so that was pretty fun to explore a modern and grown-up version.

The weather was pretty hot and humid while we were in Tulum, so I kept my jewelry to a minimum. I left my normal set of rings in my luggage (mostly because it was so hot that my fingers were swollen beyond their normal size!) and opted for a really pretty hand chain and ring set by local Bay Area jewelry brand, Isharya. The combination was such a simple statement and was just the right amount of accessorization I needed for walking around and exploring the adorable boutiques in town.

You might notice that I ditched my usual heels and am rocking some flats, too! When I first saw these espadrilles, I knew I had to have them for this trip. But being I have flat feet, I was wary of actually buying them because that meant I’d need to find a pair of insoles that would help give me an arch. Mama Luxe came to my rescue and told me about these babies—they were lifesavers! It’s not something most women think about, but wearing flat shoes are really terrible for your feet, especially if you are like me with no arches. I highly recommend investing in a good pair of insoles like those for any shoes that are completely flat. (Yes, that includes your adorable ballet slippers!) Trust me, when you hit your 30’s, your back and feet will thank you!
