“The Chanel jacket is a man’s jacket which has become typically feminine… [It] has come to symbolize a certain nonchalant feminine elegance that is timeless.”
— Karl Lagerfeld
In this blogger’s opinion, there is nothing more classic than a Chanel jacket. It is innately sophisticated, and every woman should have something like it in her closet. Of course, most of us will never be able to afford the real deal, but that doesn’t mean we can’t channel our inner Chanel with an inspired piece!
In a small San Francisco boutique I found this amazing jacket, and it does a great job capturing the essence of everything Coco Chanel wanted her creation to be, for a fraction of the price.
I especially love the contrast between the crisp, white tweed texture and the edginess of the leather trim!
Influenced by the leather accents in the jacket, which kept it from being too stuffy and conservative, I wore a green top underneath with the same trimming, as well as my leather-like pants to match.
Just like the Chanel Classic 2.55 Flap, this Aimee Kestenberg bag can be worn as a crossbody, as originally intended, or with the chain double-looped to create a shoulder bag.
Taking a style note from Karl Lagerfeld, who never leaves home without his fingerless leather gloves, I finished off this Chanel-inspired look with a pair of my own.
Hope everyone is having a great week thus far!
