Last week, I was asked by a reader, Alice, for a nice dinner outfit idea. My rule when getting dressed for a big meal (regardless how fancy the restaurant may be) is that my outfit must allow for a potential food baby! I don’t like feeling uncomfortably full at the dinner table since I’d much rather be 100% engaged in conversation and enjoy the food, so I always try to avoid wearing anything tight or constraining against my waist. Save your skinny jeans and belts for another day, and opt for loose-fitting tops with leggings or dresses with flared skirts instead.
A winter white coat coat always dresses up and instantly adds elegance to any outfit — perfect for a date night!
Now, I know I said to leave your belts at home if you’re planning on consuming a lot of food, but if your belt is stretchy you can make an exception. Stretchy belts will allow for constant comfort throughout your meal without having to duck into the bathroom and loosening up the buckle!
